Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Avengers

I'm starting to read a lot more again, which is awesome. I recently finished reading Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Avengers, a collected trade of Guardians of the Galaxy #0.1, #1-3 and the special origin issue Guardians of the Galaxy: Tomorrow's Avengers #1. It is published by Marvel (which kinda almost goes without saying) written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Steve McNiven and Sara Pichelli.

This is a really fun book, I had a good feeling about it when I spotted it on the shelf in the store, and as soon as I noted it was written by Bendis I was on-board (I'm a huge fan of the work he did on the Ultimate Spider-Man comics).

There is a real good mix of stories in here, there is Star Lord's origin for starter and then a collection of shorts looking at each member of the Guardians team, and then the start of a longer story featuring Iron Man (who is on a 'holiday' form the Avengers). One thing that I really liked was the humor, it is really well written, especially when you come to the characters of Groot and Rocket. The Rocket story I read to my daughter (who is pretty young) and every time we read it, Rocket always gives her belly laughs.

The other stories are very cool, Gamora is just awesome! I so want her to be this cool in the movies, and don't get me wrong, she's good in the films, it is just the comic takes her to a whole new level of awesome. The main story, Cosmic Avengers, links in and builds very nicely throughout the book leading to an edge of the seat, brilliant and action packed conclusion that sets-up the next story arc perfectly.

I defo recommend this trade to either fans of the film who are curious, or fans of the Guardians comics, or anyone else for that matter. I will  give you a heads-up warning. IF you have watched the film, love it and DO NOT want Star Lord's (Peter Quill) origin spoiled before the film franchise gets a chance to tell it, then DO NOT read this book.

Okay, so what do I think?

Writing?

Artwork?
