Exeter Comic Expo

Sunday just passed saw the much anticipated (by me at least) Exeter Comic Expo arrive (organised by the fantastic Fantasy Events ), my first one in Exeter, and not to be my last either.

It was a really great day out where unlike many of the larger conventions, you really got to met the creators face to face in a very informal environment. This could easily become one of my favourite comic convention for this reason alone.

One of the highlights of the day was getting to meet lee Garbett, not only one of the nicest people I have ever met, but also a fantastic artist. If you haven't heard of Lee Garbett or his work, here is the link for his blog. Lee Garbett has just finished a run on the new Batgirl title and has also recently worked on the Return of Bruce Wayne (due out this autumn).

Here he is signing my copy of Batgirl Rising, the traded addition of the first six issues of the new Batgirl title:

Here is a sample of Lee Garbett's awesome work in the form of a print I picked up at the event:

Being a big fan of Batman and his world, it was a fantastic experience meeting Lee Garbett, especially when he offered me a sketch. So naturally I asked for Spider-man (it turns out Lee Garbett is a big fan of the web slinger too).

All in all a brilliant comic con and I'm really looking forward to the next one. A big thanks for all that made it the fun day it was, especially Zaius from Escape From Tomorrow – the comic review blog, who went more than out of his way to make sure I made it to the event.
